Animal Race is an exciting racing game where you select an animal (of which there are 6 different ones to choose from), choose your preferred lane and decide if you want to use cards (advanced players) or dice to move along the track. The game allows cards for a more strategic game play or dice for a more fun and randomised game play for younger players. Either roll the correct number of dice to move along the chosen track or play the correct number of cards that are in your hand. There are various icons on the board with each one providing a different outcome and you can change lane on route when a gap appears. This may look basic and have a classic outlook, but the game play is much more modernised than that.
The dice and cards are not all numbered, either side on the dice provides a different outcome than your standard dice. Likewise, the cards and dice will contain symbols as well as numbers to reward players and allow use of the mystery dice to create excitement for players. There is a lot of strategic elements to the game play and it teachers younger players basic mathematical skills and logical thinking.

You aim to pick up carrots along the way and finishing in the top 3 earns you more carrots as a reward. But don’t worry! If you come last you are still rewarded with a carrot. The player with the most carrots after 2 races wins; there are two sides to the board for a unique competitive race.
We all like a twist! During the game carrots provide options and allow you to make your own decisions. With each lane requiring a set number of dice to be rolled or cards to be played, you must decide which dice/card to use from the available ones rolled/or cards in your hand to play. By rolling or playing a card with the ? icon you are given 2 options; pick up a carrot token or roll the mystery dice. Players may also use their carrot tokens to either propel themselves forward 3 spaces or move an opponent back 2 spaces. The choice is yours!
The game has been play tested by over 50 children scoring it a great average of 8+/10 for fun factor. Those familiar with classic games will enjoy many of the mechanism found, but new gamers will also like the twists on these old mechanism, providing a great gateway into modern gaming.
